Gait analysis is a detailed study of how people walk and run. It uses special technology to measure your body’s movements, how your mechanics work, and how your muscles are active. What is "Gait"?

“Gait” is simply the pattern of how your legs move when you walk or run. It includes things like how long your steps are, how many steps you take per minute, your speed, how your joints (hips, knees, ankles) bend, and how your foot lands.

The walking cycle is usually broken into:

  • Stance Phase (60% of the time): When your foot is on the ground.
  • Swing Phase (40% of the time): When your foot is off the ground and moving forward.
