Hey there!

Did you give your body a good workout yesterday? That tightness and soreness you feel now—that’s called DOMS. It’s totally normal and means your muscles are getting stronger.

What causes the soreness?

After a new or intense workout, your muscles get tiny “micro-tears.” That’s normal your body rebuilds and comes back stronger. DOMS usually starts 12–48 hours after your workout and can last a few days.
Simple ways to ease the pain:

  • Move a bit: A gentle walk, easy yoga, or light stretching can help improve blood flow and reduce stiffness.
  • Take a warm bath or heating pad: Heat relaxes your muscles and helps you feel better.
  • Try a cold bath or ice pack: A quick 10–15-minute cold soak (around 10–15 °C or 50–59 °F) can reduce soreness but don’t overdo it, especially right after heavy strength training.
  • Eat and drink well: Have a snack with protein and carbs like yogurt with fruit or chocolate milk to help muscles recover. Don’t forget to stay hydrated.
  • Sleep well: Your body repairs itself when you sleep so shut eye is your secret recovery too.

When soreness might be something else:

If the pain is sharp, stays for over a week, or stops you from doing regular stuff—time to check in with a doctor.

Remember: A little soreness is a sign you’re challenging yourself—but you don’t have to suffer through it. Listen to your body, take care, and keep going strong!
